Managing Specialty Website

This webpage was created to help the Show Chair (SC) and Website Committee (WC) work together on this specialty website. This webpage includes a comprehensive list of potential information published for each year's specialty website.

Show Chair Planning Best Practices

The SC can use this webpage to develop a plan to update the content for the upcoming National Specialty. It is a best practice that the SC and/or the Specialty Show Committees develop content for the planning guide first. The WC suggests the SC provide content in phases:
  1. Announcement: Basic information to promote next years event. Usually right after the current years specialty.
  2. Jan-Feb: Hotel reservation information and preliminary schedule.
  3. Mar-Apr: All content from the list below that will need to be published. Including finalized schedule if possible.
  4. 1-2 Months Before: Premium Lists (PDF) and any last minute minor changes.
  5. 1-Week Prior to Event: Publish Judging Program (PDF).
  6. During Event: Results - If show superintendent provides links to their website content of results.
  7. Post Event: Show Chair sends any official results in PDF format that are provided by the show superintendent.

Website Committee Process

The WC will:
  1. Publish content after the SC provides final and approved content.
  2. Send an email to the SC letting them know the webpage is published and is ready to review for accuracy.
  3. Correct or update any content that is incorrect or missing.

FAQs

Why is it recommended the Show Chair create a Planning Guide first? The club still provides basic information to the membership via email and a printed version for members who opt-out of email communication. Check with the club Secretary for the list of those folks.

Can we add more webpages than what is listed? The list includes the recommended basic information needed for a specialty website. Additional webpage are at the discretion  and available resources of the website committee.
